Employers in the US, who use the H-1B visa program to hire high-skilled foreign professionals, spend a lot of money in their sponsorship. The visa fees are ever on the rise. These visa fees are increasing even when the government had placed the visa program under so much scrutiny. So far, US employees have paid up to $5 billion which are mandatory fees. These fees are used to fund other projects like scholarships given to American students and training given to US workers. If one includes the anti-fraud fees and other ones from the government which give 1.6 billion, the total amount sums up to over 7.6 million. The info was revealed in a new study conducted by the National Foundation American Policy. For making an initial petition, attorney costs and other associated government fees fall from $3,400 to $16,560. For the initial petition together with an extension, the fee range is between $6,300 and $28,620. In addition, employers of H-1B talents must pay them the higher range of the wage paid to other professionals in their companies who have the same level of experience and qualifications as them.
