Air Asia India announced on January 14th, 2018 that it will run a promotional rate for seven cities in India. The low-cost carrier will only charge INR 99 as the base airfare for traveling between these cities. This offer is valid from January 15 to 21 for flights booked in between January 15th to January 31st, 2018. These cities are Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ranchi, Pune, Bengaluru, and Kochi. Also, the airline’s parent body, Air Asia, is running a promotional offer for passengers flying between Bangkok, Bali, Auckland, Singapore, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, and Sydney. The company will only charge INR 1499 as the base airfare. In a statement released by Air Asia, they said that they offer only valid for those who make the booking on their website - and using their mobile app. The offer can be availed on the parent company’s network including AirAsia X, Air Asia India, Thai AirAsia, AirAsia Berhad, and Indonesia AirAsia X. Air Asia India is run together by Air Asia, the Malaysian company, who owns 49 percent of shares and Tata Sons, who owns 51 percent of the shares. The company started catering to the Indian population four years ago back in 2014. It currently flies between 16 cities including the seven mentioned above and Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Goa, Chandigarh, Sri Nagar, Imphal, and Chennai. It still doesn’t fly from or to Mumbai.

GoAir is the cheapest air carrier to fly from Mumbai. A while ago even GoAir went on a similar promotional spree, called the GoAir 2018 Sale. Domestic flights cost INR 1,005 including airfare, taxes, and other costs to some select destinations. Even IndiGo and Vistara launched similar offers to welcome the new year, 2018.
