Ontario Employer Job Offer: Foreign Workers Stream Opens for Applications

Temporarily put on suspension in April 2019, the International Workers Stream of Ontario’s Immigrant Nominee Program is now open to receive applications. At this point, qualified candidates can apply by the O.I.N.P e-Filing portal. If victorious, selected candidates will get a work permit support letter, enabling them to appeal for a Canadian work permit while their appeal for Canada PR is being processed.

The Foreign Workers Stream has numerous advantages for qualified appellants. There are no minimum conditions for language ability and education, nor do applicants need to hold a pre-existing relationship to the province. Those chosen for nomination by the province of Ontario will be provided the go-ahead to present a paper-based appeal for Canada PR.

Eligibility for Foreign Workers Stream

To qualify, a foreign national needs to have a genuine job offer from an Ontario firm. The employment offer needs to be a full-time job paid at higher than the median wage level for that profession in the Ontario province. The profession needs to be at NOC Skill level 0, A or B.

Appellants must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience obtained in the previous 5 years; this work experience must be in the corresponding NOC code as the employment offer. This specification does not require to be satisfied if the candidate contains a valid license, certificate, or the permission to practice the profession represented on the employment offer. The license needs to be announced by a suitable regulatory body in Ontario.

Ontario is Best Choice for Immigrants

Ontario welcomes more immigrants than any other province in Canada and, this year has the biggest immigrant nomination allotment ever. In 2019, Ontario is estimated to receive 6,900 immigrants and their family members.

Skilled job growth is encouraged by the Ontario province, in great part due to its intake of highly skilled workers.
