David Coleman Immigration Minister, of Australia stated that there was an increase by 179 per cent in the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme and by 79 per cent in the Regional Skilled Sponsored visa.
This also means that the nation is set in meeting the target of regional visas fixed at 23,000, at the end of the year. The regional visas serve as an important pillar of Population Plan that is working towards the goal of easing the pressure on capital locations and is also supporting the growth of regions which need more people.
Earlier in the year, there was an announcement by the Government regarding new skilled regional visas (provisional) to enable many regional businesses in filling up the vacant jobs, in a fast manner, in case of non availability of Australian workers, and for encouraging the skilled migrants, as well as their families, in settling/remaining in regional areas.
The date when new regional visas will take effect is 16th November, and it is in fact a replacement of RSMS and Regional Skilled Sponsored visas.
Also for meeting the targets and extending support to regional Australia, the Ministry has organized six Regional Outreach Officers to work for the states/territories and promote initiatives regarding the skilled migration. Moreover it will provide devoted support to regional employers, and also help them in understanding the skilled options in visa. This will be apart from the $19.4 million funds exclusively for supporting regional areas and for attracting skilled migrants, by providing precedence in processing to regional applications.
