The Australia High Commission in India has recently announced that Indian visa applicants can now apply for a Fast Track visa service. Known as the Priority Consideration Service the service will be available from 5th December 2016 is applies to Indian who are applying for a Subclass 600 Visitor visa for both the Tourist and Business Streams of this type of visa. The service is only available at certain visa application centres and these are Mumbai North, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Pune and Jalandhar, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai South. The High Commission reports that for a fee of AUD1000, approximately INR 53,000 the applicants can take advantage of the fast track service which will usually deliver the visa within 48 hours of the application being received although this is not guaranteed and there is no refund available if the application should take longer. However there are restrictions on who can apply for the fast track service although it is open to all Indian passport holders currently living in India although the High Commission has said that it does not recommend the service to those that are suffering from health issues or already have an adverse immigration history. Any known matter that may delay the visa application would delay the 48 hour visa application time. Of course there also no guarantee that the visa will be issued as that always depends on the status of the application. It is hoped that this new service will considerably speed up the numerous visa applications that are received by the High Commission and make it easier for those travelling to Australia to plan their trip as currently visa issuing times vary considerably throughout the year depending on the number of applicants. Visa issuing times for those not opting for the fast track service are published on the Australia High Commission website.
